Pilates is a form of exercise which helps to re-train the postural muscles, allowing you to exercise and move from a central core of stability. Once you have re-trained the central core, exercises progressively challenge this by working at strength, flexibility, co-ordination and control. However, it is always possible to exercise at your own pace.
Pilates suits people of all ages and fitness levels and is ideal for complimenting other forms of exercise, eg running, aerobics. Pilates targets the deep postural muscles by building strength from the inside out, re-balancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment producing excellent results for all ages and abilities.
Pilates helps to:
Increase and create a balance between strength and flexibility
